Product Overview

The Perfect Match for 15–45 HP Tractors
The SG24 PTO Shaft Stump Grinder is engineered to pair perfectly with tractors rated between 15 to 45 HP. It’s compatible with Category 1 3-point hitches and ASABE Category 1 Quick-Hitch, making it easy and efficient to operate.
Equipped with a heavy-duty 24-inch solid steel grinding wheel and 34 tungsten carbide teeth, the SG24 makes stump removal quick and efficient. Its rugged, well-designed structure allows you to grind stumps up to 6 inches below ground level, leaving roots to decompose naturally.
The SG24 comes standard with a 1-3/8", 6-spline PTO shaft with a built-in slip clutch to help protect your equipment from overload damage. The PTO driven cutting system is designed to run at 540 RPM and performs best when used with tractors that have an independent PTO system, allowing you to control the tractor’s ground speed separately from the grinder’s RPM for more precise operation.
A built-in chainsaw holder on top of the unit provides added convenience, making it easy to carry your chainsaw for additional trimming or cutting on the job.

Once you get the hang of it. It takes on the hardest wood stumps. Very impressive for a compact tractor.

Ground about 50 stumps from Ash Walnut Pine BoxElder and works good. It helps to have a second person directing or you are guessing where you are cutting because it’s hard to see the actual cutter from my tractor

For the price, the SG24 delivers strong performance. I used it to clear a cluster of maple stumps and had no problem grinding them down below ground level. Noise level is typical for a PTO grinder. One bolt needed tightening after first use, but otherwise everything stayed in place. Definitely recommend for acreage owners.

FAQs

How long do teeth last on a stump grinder?

The life of stump grinder teeth depends on how often you use your PTO stump grinder and what kind of material you’re cutting. For occasional property owners, carbide teeth for stump grinder setups like Farmry’s can last through dozens of medium-sized stumps—sometimes over 60—before needing rotation or replacement. If you’re grinding hardwood or working in rocky soil, they may wear down faster. The good news? Each tip is packaged as a replacement part, so it’s easy to swap out when needed—no complicated tools required.

Can you sharpen carbide stump grinder teeth?

Technically, yes—but it’s not recommended for most users. Carbide teeth for stump grinder setups are super hard—that’s what makes them last so long—but that also means they require diamond wheels or professional sharpening services. Instead of sharpening, most users prefer rotating or replacing them. Farmry’s replacement parts are affordable and pre-aligned, which saves time and ensures consistent grinding.

What’s the difference between steel and carbide teeth for stump grinder?

The main difference is durability. Steel teeth are cheaper but wear out fast—especially when hitting dirt, rocks, or frozen roots. In contrast, carbide teeth for stump grinder models stay sharper 2–3 times longer and are better for heavy-duty jobs. They create cleaner chips and need fewer replacements. For pros or anyone with lots of stumps to clear, carbide is the smarter choice in both performance and long-term value.

How do I know when to replace stump grinder teeth?

Look for signs like slower cutting, more vibration, or irregular-sized chips. A clean-cutting pto stump grinder should make uniform mulch. If you're seeing dust or burnt wood instead of chips—or if the cutting diameter feels reduced—it's likely time to rotate or replace your stump grinder teeth. Farmry teeth come with a simple bolt-on system, so it’s a nice and quick process, even for first-time users.
