Picked the HFS63 mainly for roadside shoulders; the heavy chain curtain up front keeps rocks in check, so I’m not dodging shrapnel. Rotor spins fast enough to leave a fine mulch, saving an extra pass with the rake. Grease zerks line up on one side—daily service is a five-minute job. Took two buddies and a loader to mount it—this thing’s built heavy—but once hitched it tracks true. Paint looks thick; no rust showing after several wet weeks.

Had the HFS63 for a month, knocking down cover crops between vineyard rows. Narrow enough for 9-foot spacing but wide enough that I’m not wasting trips. The hinged service door lets me clear wrapped twine in seconds—huge plus around trellises. Belts arrived properly tensioned; haven’t needed to touch them. My only gripe: the PTO safety chain was missing a clip—easy dollar fix. Considering the cut quality and stout gearbox, that’s a small price to pay.

With my flail, the rear roller adjusts the cut height, then lengthen the top link to make it run level. The skids should always be off the ground, they are designed to prevent running the blades in the dirt on uneven terrain, so the mower is always riding on the rear roller.
