The hydraulic lift on the VHF79 is a real time-saver when switching between ditches and flat ground. Runs smooth on my 75HP Case with no strain, and fuel use has been reasonable for a mower this wide. Would’ve liked grease points marked clearer, but otherwise very happy.

VHF79 has made ditch maintenance way easier. I used to avoid those spots because of slope and reach issues, but now I can mow them from a safe distance. Only complaint is the PTO shaft needed trimming to fit my setup. Support was quick to help. No regrets.

I was torn between this and a name-brand unit that cost twice as much. Glad I went with Farmry. This mower is well-made and runs smooth. It’s not light, but my 85HP tractor handles it fine. Had one blade come loose after hitting a rock; However, Farmry provided complimentary accessories, and after I replaced the blades, operations were swiftly resumed.

Heavy-duty is right. This mower’s built like a tank. I use it on creek banks, road shoulders, and some steep ground. It handles slopes really well. Assembly took a few hours—definitely a two-person job—but the hardware was all there. Good value for the price.

The VHF79 gets the job done. Strong frame, quality welds, and a wide enough cut for larger areas. The hydraulic offset helps me reach ditch banks without putting the tractor in sketchy spots. One hydraulic hose was a bit short for my setup, but it was easy to replace.

Farmry VHF79 Hydraulic Verge Ditch Bank Flail Mower – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: What size tractor is compatible with the VHF79 mower?

A: The VHF79 flail mower is designed for 60–100 HP tractors and connects via a rear 3-point Category I/II hitch. This powerful ditch bank flail mower works seamlessly with mid- to high-power equipment for pasture maintenance, roadside mowing, and commercial-grade fieldwork.

Q2: What is the cutting width and cutting height adjustment range?

A: This ditch bank flail mower provides a 79-inch cutting width and comes equipped with an adjustable rear roller to fine-tune cutting height. Whether clearing slopes, field edges, or shoulders, this flail mower allows consistent turf management with professional results.

Q3: What type of blades are included, and can they handle tough material?

A: The VHF79 uses STD hammer blades—rugged and balanced to mulch thick grass, tall weeds, and brush. These hammer blades are engineered for long life and aggressive cutting, making this flail mower a go-to solution for demanding vegetation control.

Q4: Is this mower capable of handling slopes and ditch banks?

A: Yes. As a dedicated ditch bank flail mower, the VHF79 includes a hydraulic system for side offset and vertical tilt, giving you full command over angle and reach. The hammer blades and flexible cutting head make it ideal for slopes, embankments, and roadside cleanup.

Q5: How does the hydraulic control system work?

A: This flail mower features a loader-style hydraulic valve with float control, powered by your tractor's PTO-driven hydraulics. It allows you to make real-time adjustments, ensuring the cutting head adapts smoothly to changing terrain and ditch contours.

Q6: What are the main safety and durability features?

A: The VHF79 includes a shear bolt PTO shaft to prevent gearbox damage under stress. Its powder-coated frame, heavy-duty construction, and thick rotor tube are built for endurance. Reinforced housing and rotor shaft dia of 5.5 inches add further protection and balance for rough use.

Q7: What is the rotor shaft diameter, and why is it important?

A: The rotor shaft dia measures 5.5 inches and is paired with a robust rotor tube—ensuring low vibration and high-speed cutting. This larger rotor shaft dia boosts cutting force, reduces fatigue on the machine, and maximizes blade efficiency and lifespan, especially for hammer blades.

Q8: Can the mower float over uneven ground surfaces?

A: Yes. The float spool system and vertical hydraulic cylinder allow the ditch bank flail mower to follow the ground contour naturally. Combined with the strength of the hammer blades, this floating action provides superior results on rugged terrain and road shoulders.

Q9: Is this mower difficult to operate for beginners?

A: Not at all. The VHF79 flail mower is user-friendly, with clear controls, smooth operation, and a 3-point attachment system. Farmry includes detailed instructions, and our U.S.-based tech team is ready to assist with setup, adjustments, and maintenance.

Q10: What comes included in the package, and is support available?
