Product Overview

The Perfect Match for 15–45 HP Tractors
The SG24 PTO Shaft Stump Grinder is engineered to pair perfectly with tractors rated between 15 to 45 HP. It’s compatible with Category 1 3-point hitches and ASABE Category 1 Quick-Hitch, making it easy and efficient to operate.
Equipped with a heavy-duty 24-inch solid steel grinding wheel and 34 tungsten carbide teeth, the SG24 makes stump removal quick and efficient. Its rugged, well-designed structure allows you to grind stumps up to 6 inches below ground level, leaving roots to decompose naturally.
The SG24 comes standard with a 1-3/8", 6-spline PTO shaft with a built-in slip clutch to help protect your equipment from overload damage. The PTO driven cutting system is designed to run at 540 RPM and performs best when used with tractors that have an independent PTO system, allowing you to control the tractor’s ground speed separately from the grinder’s RPM for more precise operation.
A built-in chainsaw holder on top of the unit provides added convenience, making it easy to carry your chainsaw for additional trimming or cutting on the job.

I got my grinder 2 weeks ago. I did eleven stumps so far and many more to do. This unit is very well built. I use it on my JD 2305 which pairs up very well. Take time at first to learn how it works and now I can do a medium size tree in 20 mins. Farmy called me to confirm shipping, the container it came in was very rugged with bubble wrap around all separate parts. I am very impressed.

After about 15 stumps, I started to notice a drop in bite. The teeth weren’t dull yet, but probably due for a flip soon. I cleaned the grinder after every use and greased the joints—maintenance isn’t bad if you keep up with it.

Tried it on a 10” oak stump and it chewed through it with no real strain. I go slow and let the disc do the work. The grinder kicks up a lot of chips, so eye protection is a must. So far, performance is what I hoped for.

Unpacking was straightforward, and the grinder looked solid right out of the crate. It took about an hour to assemble everything and hook it to my 40HP Massey. One bolt hole needed a little filing to line up, but otherwise a clean install.

Delivery took about 10 business days, just like the website said. The crate arrived in great shape—no damage, no missing parts, and everything was well-secured inside. For a piece of equipment this size, I thought the handling was solid. Would’ve liked a few more tracking updates along the way, but overall the shipping process was smooth.

FAQs

1. What are the apparent advantages of a PTO stump removal grinder?

A PTO-powered stump removal grinder is one of the most efficient and cost-effective tools for removing tree stumps on your own land.

Instead of renting equipment or hiring contractors, a PTO stump grinder allows you to remove multiple stumps whenever you want—wherever your tractor can work. Powered directly by your tractor, hardened steel cutting teeth grind through wood, roots, and stump material quickly and consistently.

Compared with manual tools or small walk-behind units, PTO stump grinders are built for serious stump grinding, offering better stability, deeper cutting, and far greater productivity over time.

2. What are the benefits of choosing a PRO Series stump grinder?

Stump grinding efficiency depends on many factors, including wood type, stump size, moisture level, and density. Improper tractor travel speed can lead to poor grinding results, excessive cutter movement, or unnecessary wear on the equipment.

Farmry’s PRO Series stump grinders are engineered to solve this problem. They are equipped with a GO-STOP visual guidance system, helping operators adjust ground speed in real time based on cutting resistance. This improves grinding efficiency, protects cutting teeth, and extends service life.

Additionally, the PRO model features a patented shock-absorption system, which applies steady pressure during grinding, reduces rebound, and improves overall safety and control—especially when working on larger or harder stumps.

3. What is the best PTO stump grinder for my tractor?

The best stump grinder is typically the largest model your tractor can safely handle.

When choosing a PTO stump grinder, match:

  • Your tractor’s PTO horsepower
  • 3-point hitch lifting capacity
  • Intended stump size and volume

Selecting a properly matched grinder ensures stable operation, protects your equipment, and delivers a smoother stump removal experience over time.

4. How does a PTO stump grinder work?

1) Attaching the PTO stump grinder

Before installation, check whether the PTO shaft length needs trimming to fit your tractor. Detailed instructions are provided in the user manual.

Once prepared, attach the stump grinder using the three-point hitch, ensuring all connections are secure.

⚠️ Operating with a PTO shaft angle greater than 20° may damage the equipment. Always adjust the top link so the PTO shaft runs as straight as possible during operation.

2) Engaging the grinder

Start the tractor and engage the PTO. The cutting wheel will begin spinning. With the grinder raised, position it directly above the stump before lowering.

3) Grinding the stump

Begin grinding from one side of the stump, moving back and forth in controlled passes. Gradually lower the grinder level by level until the stump and most surface roots are removed.

This method ensures efficient cutting, reduced strain on the equipment, and consistent results.

5. How quickly can a PTO stump grinder remove stumps?

Grinding time varies depending on stump size, wood hardness, moisture, and root structure. However, in most real-world conditions, stump grinding is measured in minutes—not hours.

With Farmry stump grinders, many standard tree stumps can be removed in around 15 minutes or less, making them ideal for property maintenance, land clearing, and production work.

6. Do stump grinders come assembled? How long does assembly take, and how do I maintain it?

Farmry stump grinders are delivered in modular components, designed for easy assembly.

Following the instruction manual:

  • Assembly typically takes about 1 hour
  • Only basic tools are required

For maintenance, routine greasing of bearings and visual inspection of cutting components are recommended. All maintenance steps, safety guidelines, and service intervals are clearly outlined in the user manual, which is included with the machine and available as a downloadable PDF.

7. Do I need a permit or certification to grind a stump?

In most areas, no permit is required to grind tree stumps on your own property. However, regulations may vary, so it’s always wise to check with your local municipality before starting work.

8. Can I use a Farmry stump grinder for commercial stump removal work?

Yes. As long as local laws and regulations are followed, Farmry fully supports customers using our stump grinders for commercial purposes.

Many customers use Farmry equipment as part of their stump removal services, land clearing operations, or property maintenance businesses. The machines are built for reliability, efficiency, and real-world work, making them suitable for both private and commercial use.
