After ordering the LFP63, I realized I needed to update my shipping address. Reached out to customer service and they handled it right away—super helpful and polite. The mower arrived well-packaged and in great shape. Took a bit of effort dialing in the roller height, but now it cuts clean and even.

What I really like about the LFP63 is how much time it saves. It covers ground fast without missing spots. After using rotary mowers for years, this flail cuts closer and leaves things more even. I did have to double-check the belt tension after a few hours, but everything’s held up great since.

LFP63 works great on my sloped field behind the barn. Doesn’t scalp the ground, even on uneven terrain. I had to trim the PTO shaft a little to fit, but that’s pretty common. Once it’s set, the thing runs smooth and feels solid.

Blades were pre-installed and sharp right out of the crate. It fired up with no fuss. I use it mostly for small pasture cleanup and roadside strips. One grease fitting was a bit awkward to reach, but no real complaints. A well-built piece of equipment.

For a 63” mower, it’s surprisingly maneuverable. I thought it might feel bulky behind my 35HP tractor, but it handled well even on turns. A couple of stickers were peeling off the deck, but that’s purely cosmetic. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Faqs

What is a flail mower attachment?

A flail mower is a PTO-driven attachment that connects to the rear of most tractors using a standard 3-point hitch. It uses spinning hammer blades, scoop knives, or Y blades to cut and mulch grass, weeds, and thick brush. It’s ideal for clearing rough terrain, fields, and even ditch banks where precision and durability matter. The rear roller helps stabilize the mower and ensures a safe, smooth operation on uneven ground.

How much horsepower do you need for a flail mower?

For the Farmry LFP63 Pro Series, your tractor should have 25–45 HP to power the mower efficiently. The mower is relatively low in weight for its overall width, making it easy to handle for compact and mid-size tractors while still tough enough for dense vegetation. No special accessories are required to get started—just a working PTO and 3-point hitch.

What are the different types of flail mowers?

Flail mowers vary by blade types, cutting strength, and mounting style. Common blades include hammer blades for tougher material, Y blades for finer cuts, and scoop knives for mulching lighter cut material like grass or lawn trimmings. Some models also include hydraulics for side-shifting or height adjustments. The LFP63 uses a fixed rear mount and is perfect for general property and pasture use.

What is better, a flail mower or a rotary mower?

It depends on your task. A flail mower gives you better safety and a cleaner finish, especially on rough terrain and near structures or fences. A rotary mower is faster for large, open areas but tends to throw debris farther. Flail mowers offer better cut adjustment, finer mulch, and are safer to operate near people, buildings, or sensitive areas.

How tall of grass will a flail mower cut?

A flail mower like the LFP63 can cut tall grass and even light thick brush. It’s perfect for overgrown fields, roadside trimming, or pasture maintenance. With adjustable cutting height and a built-in rear roller, you’ll get an even, clean finish on a variety of surfaces.

Can you mow backwards with a flail mower?

Technically yes, but it's not recommended. Flail mowers are designed to work while moving forward to protect the blades and ensure even cut material discharge. Mowing in reverse may affect the smooth operation and performance, and it could put stress on the PTO-driven components.
